CLARIFICATION: Race Riot! Tour Recap: Detroit! @ The Trumbullplex on Sept 28, 2012
By Daniela Capistrano
Weeks ago, when Osa emailed me to confirm that “we’re going to do our Detroit event at The Trumbleplex,” the first thing that popped into my head was the movie Mad Max. TRUMBLE.PLEX. I rolled the word around in my head for days, imagining what the space would be like.
the only thing worse than then when people use the word “postapoliptic”(sp?) to describe detroit is the “Mad Max” thing. but the POC Zine project was really great and these people had nice things to say about the trumbullplex and the zine library and that is the thing I care about most in the world
:) Chill y’all <3 wasn’t referring to Detroit in any fashion. The venue name - “Trumbullplex” - is what conjured the mental association with “Mad Max.” Didn’t use the word post-apocalyptic to describe Detroit AT ALL. Just wanted to clear that up.
We had an incredible time in Detroit and will be back soon to support community projects.
